TUSCALOOSA, AL — The University of Alabama will look to make it five straight years of wins over rival Auburn for the Beat Auburn, Beat Hunger Food Drive as it kicks off on Friday, Oct. 1. This year's installment mark's its 27th in existence.

The opening day for the food drive will start at 11 a.m. and last until 3 p.m. at The University of Alabama Student Center, as both schools will work to try to collect more food than the other.
UA said the food drive will run through Nov. 18, with the winner announced on Nov. 19.
Alabama took home the win in 2020, collecting 291,047 pounds of food.
For 2021, UA students have set a goal of collecting 300,000 pounds of food to then be donated to the West Alabama Food Bank — a Northport-based nonprofit that serves a nine-county region.
Since its inception in 1994, the effort that has seen over 7 million pounds of food collected by both schools.
