I am a bass player and also play vintage and contemporary analog modular synthesizers. (“Nerds! Nerds! Nerds!”) Seeking aficionados of sounds and genres such as post-punk: especially Bunnymen, Killing Joke, Chameleons, and Tones on Tail; psychedelia such as 13th Floor Elevators and Arthur Lee’s Love and Syd; Creation Records (MBV and JMC and Ride and Slowdive). Britpop such as Suede, La’s, and Stone Roses. Huge fan of Eno and Fripp, Bowie (especially Low). If these descriptions above resonate and you enjoy such bands, please reach out if you are interested in collaborating. I would love to meet a singer(s) who writes lyrics, guitarists and other synth players, but any other type of instruments might fit well. Of course those are just big influences, I personally do not want to play in a cover band. I do enjoy playing some covers privately, but I want to write originals with other eager musicians who want to quilt together patches of noise and weirdness along with melodies and dream-pop sounds. Please don’t be one of those people who already has a repertoire of songs with no intention of writing together! It doesn’t take long to reveal such an agenda, but it is a big waste of time…but with that point emphasized, I would be open to playing other folks’ pre-written songs as long as there’s a happy, healthy balance including co-written collaborative songs. As far as getting together, I prefer going to a place such as7DrumCity to play at comfortably loud volume. But if anyone has an alternative place for playing, I would be open. (I live near Alexandria so DC tends to be a more convenient place to meet others from Maryland, etc.)
