ATLANTA — Traffic in Atlanta can be a zoo. But this particular tale about Buckhead logjams might be considered the Greatest Of All Time. A herd of goats was spotted roaming the streets near the corner of Piedmont and Peachtree roads munching on grass and leaves late Monday morning, Atlanta Police said. Around 10:32 a.m., officers responded to reports of the goats wandering in the road, a police spokesman said. WSB Channel 2 Action was gruff enough to get to the story first. Catie Cryar, assistant manager with People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals said using the animals for commercial landscaping, especially in an urban setting near potentially heavy traffic was baaaaaaaaaaad. "PETA has no problem with letting goats do what they want to do (e.g., look cute and eat weeds)," Cryar told Patch in an email. "But putting them at risk of being run over really gets our goat, if you'll pardon the pun. We suggest hiring a two-legged gardener instead so that lawns stay manicured, a job is given to someone who could probably use the work, and the goats can nosh safely away from the street." Not wanting to butt in or have to use their billy clubs, officers on the scene called Animal Control and the owner of the herd to get the animals under control.
