My name is Alex, I am a Family Support coordinator For Care Plus NJ and work in the Family Support Center. We are a grant-funded program by the Division of Mental Health and Addiction services. This program was created to help families how have loved ones that struggle with addiction. We are a supportive, non-clinical service for families and work solely with the families, we do not provide services to the individual struggling with addiction, just their loved ones.
We incorporate the CRAFT (Community Reinforcement Approach and family training) Model. This approach offers a variety of ways that we can assist families from Communication skills, setting healthy Boundaries, learning how to motivate their loved ones to seek treatment and services, self-care strategies and providing education to help the loved ones understand “addiction”.
We Provide Specialized services to the loved ones. Family Involvement is a key factor to help move the Individual towards and through recovery. Some of the services we provide to the loved one are:
* Individualized ongoing support and coaching
* Psychoeducation on the CRAFT model
* CRAFT- based family support groups.
* Case management
* Referrals to resources
* Workshops
* Support and education for any family member impacted by loved one's addiction
The Program is free and Participants can remain in the program for up to a year. The only Eligibility requirement is knowing/loving someone who is struggling with substance use related issues.
