Janitor/Custodian Job Description Overview: This is a full time, hourly position of 40 hours per week. Janitorial/Custodian duties will be split between Eastside Marketplace and Real Life on the Palouse church. Pay range is dependent on experience. Additional benefits include Paid Time off and Sick Leave. The successful candidate will be self-motivated with a professional demeanor, positive attitude and strong work ethic. The successful candidate must be comfortable working with the public, church staff and guests. Responsibilities: Responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, maintenance, safety and order of the buildings and the surrounding grounds to ensure tenant and guest (customer) satisfaction. Minimum Qualifications: · High School Diploma or GED equivalent. · Must be at least 18 years of age due to the duties of this position. · Possess a valid Driver’s License · Must pass a drug test · Satisfactory background check · Willingness to perform duties associated with commercial cleaning and maintenance. listed in “duties” below Preferred Qualifications: · Any experience that indicates a skill level necessary to perform any of the assigned custodial tasks. · Prior janitorial experience in a commercial or church setting or experience that indicates a skill level and attention to detail necessary to perform any of the assigned custodial tasks. · Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and cooperate well with others. · Demonstrated reliability/dependability through work history, school or references. Physical Qualifications: · Lift and maneuver 50+ pounds frequently · Pull weight from high/low shelves · Ability to safely ascend and descend ladders · Ability to reach, bend, grip, twist, lift, push, pull, stoop · Stand for at least 8 hours Requirements of Position: · Able to handle basic maintenance, building repairs . Able to perform cleaning and other janitorial work to a high standard. . Detail Oriented · Possess basic math skills · Able to work safely with a variety of cleaning supplies · Ability to operate custodial related equipment and use applicable chemicals, supplies, hand and power tools with guidance. · Read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures. · Work various shifts, hours, and days depending on workload. · Strong, written, documentation, speaking, interpersonal and communication skills · Ability to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities · Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment · Ability to work independently and complete tasks in a timely and efficient manner with minimal supervision · Accept direction and carry out assignments to full completion Duties: · Cleaning and maintenance of floors (vacuum, sweep, mop) · Shampooing rugs and carpets as needed · Clean and re-stock restrooms · Wipe down and sanitize indoor play area and other areas as needed. · Clean tables and chairs · Collect and dispose of trash/recycling and replace liners · Recycle cardboard · Monitor exterior of building for trash, needed repairs and attention, etc. · General minor maintenance and repairs (lightbulbs, etc.) · Ensure doors are locked (if after hours) or unlocked (morning hours) · Clean up spills/messes with appropriate equipment · Dust all surfaces · Wash windows . Wipe baseboards, door handles, light switches, etc. · Assist with furniture setup and moving, loading, unloading, etc. . Maintain a thorough inventory of supplies and communicate with supervisor when supplies are low · Properly use equipment, commercial vacuums, floor buffers, carpet cleaners, etc. · Snow removal · Notify supervisor or manager of major repairs or concerns · Other unspecified duties as assigned
