Students to perform songs and techniques on the Japanese koto A Koto recital will be held at the Mukai Farm & Garden at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct 9. Tickets are free; suggested donation of $5/ticket. The musicians will be two well-practiced high school students who belong to Koto no WA, a Seattle group that has promoted koto playing for more than a decade and is led by high school teacher and koto sensei Shiho Kurauchi. The Koto is the national instrument of Japan, and other Central and East Asian cultures also have musical traditions based on similar instruments. If you enjoy the harp, you will probably enjoy the koto! The program will include both traditional and popular compositions. Reserve your seat today as attendance is limited to 30 people. Masks, and evidence of a vaccination or a negative Covid test, are required. The Mukai Farm & Garden is located at: 18017 107th Ave SW. Turn southward off of Bank Rd., west of Vashon Center. COVID-19 protocols in place. Limited to the first 30 people.
