Description

Ever wanted to learn how to create dynamic cellular paintings like the on Social media? Join artist Katie King for a beginners workshop in pour painting on Saturday Oct 24th, 2021 from 1pm to 3pm at U R Creative Crystal River Artists Explorium and discover the excitement of creating unique pour paintings with cells that emerge right before your eyes. During this workshop you will be guided in the process of pour painting and create TWO of your very own unique pour paintings sized 12X12 inches each. You will also learn how to create your own inexpensive pouring medium from materials you have at home, tips and tricks for getting larger cells, more cells, using leftover paint/skins and more. Your experience begins with an interactive demonstration of the "swipe"; "flip cup" and "colander" methods of pour painting. During the first 30 minutes we will all chose and mix our colors simultaneously to learn how to get the perfect consistency. The "swipe" and "flip cup" method will then be demonstrated before everyone joins in to create a larger "colander" pour for the studio. The next one to two hours of the workshop will be dedicated to your individual creations using the pour methods of your choosing. A sampling of paintings with different styles of pours will be available for inspiration as well as a wide variety of tools at your disposal to create nearly any pour method you may have seen. Individualized instruction on using the tools will be available. The remaining time is dedicated to a BONUS exploration project while we allow the paintings to set and dry a bit for transportation. The cost is $45 per person. All materials, instruction and support are included for you to create two of your very own paintings. Space is limited to 10 participants. Please dress for a mess. Gloves will be provided to keep your hands clean if you choose. Paintings will need approximately 48 hours to dry fully. You can transport them the same day or pick them up during scheduled studio hours. We look forward to creating with you.
