Description

Prima Voce Emerging Artists Fall Concert Series presents pianist Andreas Foivros-Apostolou, performing The Consonance of Dissonance Andreas Foivros-Apostolou, Pianist The Consonance of Dissonance An interactive workshop/masterclass with the dynamic Greek performer/composer in collaboration with Piano Spheres. Not all contemporary music is atonal as exemplified in the works of Ornstein, Vine, Uehara, Hamasyan, and a new commission by George N. Gianopoulos. Mentored and Moderated by Gloria Cheng Please note current COVID protocols for the City of Pasadena require that only vaccinated persons may enter the building and that masks must be worn at all times when indoors. This Emerging Artists program was created in 2016 to give young performers a platform to grow, experiment and pursue projects that they are passionate about in a mentoring environment. The extraordinarily talented singers and pianists spend several months exploring repertoire and creating unique solo recital programs. They also have the opportunity to learn from the collective wisdom and experience of some of Los Angeles' most brilliant musical professionals including Gloria Cheng, Paul Floyd, Brent McMunn, HOCKET, Mark Robson and Lisa Sylvester. By creating this kind of expansive learning environment, the individual qualities of expression that define each of these special artists is encouraged and developed. Their programs include at least one world premiere of a new work from a well-established or up and coming composer that has been specifically commissioned for the young artist. La Prima Voce encourages our artists to broaden their choices and styles of presentation and to invent their own standard of a performance ideal. The culmination of the process is the presentation of public recital programs in which the audience witnesses the young professionals emerging into their promising careers. Please join us in supporting these amazing young talents.
