Happy Monday, Madison! What is on the agenda for your week? I don't have much planned, but I am hoping to get over to the Olbrich Botanical Gardens this week to check out "GLEAM" which is an annual exhibit featuring art installations around the gardens. This summer when I went to the gardens a bird attacked the back of my head, so this time I'll be on the watch. Song of the Day: "Avant Gardener" by Courtney Barnett (I hope your Monday is not "mundane." I also hope you don't have an allergic reaction to any plants.) Anyway, here's what's going on today in town. Are you a local business owner or marketer in Madison? Our premium local sponsorships will keep you at the top of inboxes around town every morning. Here are the top stories in Madison today: A man racing down East Washington Avenue on Saturday night crashed into three vehicles after running a red light. The man was arrested and two others involved in the incident were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A new mural on Monroe Street was unveiled this weekend. The artist, Simone Lawrence, said the mural is a depiction of the idea of performative allyship and often meaningless actions from white progressives in Madison. Lawrence hopes the mural will "spark some conversation" in the Monroe neighborhood. (Cap Times)Did you go to Art on the Square this weekend? After taking a COVID-19 hiatus, the festival returned with nearly 500 exhibitors from all across the country. Art of the Square is a fundraiser for Madison Museum of Contemporary Art and supports the many sculptors, painters, photographers and more who sell their work there.
