Here are the top stories today in Atlanta: Eight families were displaced after suspected arson at a south Atlanta apartment complex. When the fire started around 1:30 p.m. at the Pavilion Place Apartments in the 500 block of Cleveland Avenue, it was isolated to the back deck. However, it eventually spread to the entire second floor and into the attic. No one was in the building by the time firefighters arrived, and no one was reported injured. Caseworkers will follow up with the displaced families to offer guidance and resources. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)According to the DeKalb County Police Department, officers fatally shot a man after giving him a ride to the gas station. On Saturday morning, police responded to calls about a man walking in the median of Interstate 20. After an officer drove the man to the nearest gas station, the man produced a firearm. Officers then discharged their firearms, fatally wounding the man. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is assisting the police department in the ongoing investigation.
