Valve Job 2007 Chevy Colorado 2.9L

Austin TX

Description

Hi, I am the proud owner of a 2007 Chevy Colorado 2.9L inline 4 cylinder (Atlas LLV) and I need a complete valve job. Heavy braking has been stalling the engine more and more and is to a point now that even heavy yawing during turns can cause the engine to "gurgle" and produce a pungent odor in the cabin. I am 90% positive that this issue is due to worn valves/seals, etc from my research online but I am not totally sure, I am not a professional mechanic. I am looking for a mechanic that can do a total valve job but I will need to know which parts to order, and if there are any other parts that could use replacing while the cylinder head is off. I got the truck at 100K and it's at 200K now...during that time nothing has been done inside of the engine besides plugs/coils although it has been kept fed full synthetic changed frequently. I have not noticed any issues with the timing chain, no noise/clicking or hiccups that could be related to it but considering that the valves are going, I would bet that a new timing belt would go well with new vavles, them being linked components. I know that engine timing chains need to be precisely adjusted and tightened and that a bad job on that or valves alone total an engine so I need a good mechanic for this job, someone preferably with their own shop that I can drop her off at, I don't mind waiting an extra few days to let someone who nightlights part-time to do the work, I just don't want your standard craigslist mechanic with just a few tools and no real professionality to come to me to make a score, I live in an apartment complex and it cannot be done here due to lease contract. IF you would need to look up on the internet HOW to do a valve job IN GENERAL, please do not apply. BUT if you would need to look up how to just refresh/prep for a valve job ON MY COLORADO, having already done them well before, then please apply. In your reply I would like some basic info on yourself to qualify and also I will be needing a list of stuff to buy for the job. Please let me know how many valves per cylinder I will need...springs, lifters, seals, etc, etc...anything that you think could use replacing while the head is off. Best credentials will get picked considering the most competitive offer. I will disregard replies with no parts-list. Thanks!!
