Description
You're only 1/2 right - Southern Pacific train traffic has actually decreased over the past few years.
But the increased noise level on the streets is real, and a big spike occurred over these past two Covid summers. For instance, in my relatively peaceful neighborhood, I've had to quit recording low audio level sources, such as vocals and acoustic instruments, due to the rise in noise levels.
What you're hearing is a only a side effect of a larger demographic shift, and it's a problem without a solution. Yes, that's right - legal immigrant Californians of all walks of life are streaming over the southern border in record amounts; they're loud, they're shameless, there's an infinitely inexhaustible supply of them, and there's absolutely nothing you can do about it. You think it's bad now? Just wait and see how truly awful it can, and will, get. Enjoy the chaos, adapt or leave.
