What do you do with Cats when no one will take them?

My wife is an attorney and has a client who died 8 days ago. She left two cats to a local rescue group but repeated attempts to contact them result in voice mail / absolutely no response. Calls to the local shelter say there is a waiting list of 6+months for them to accept cats. Post on Facebook results in no interest. They are like 2 years old each I think. We can't take them, already have dogs. My wife is the Personal Representative of the deceased woman estate and has to make a decision, as the person who said she would watch them when her client went into the hospital didn't sign up for this... What do you do when you can't take them, and no one else will either? Thanks
