Drummer--Wanted, With E-Kit + Starr, Watts, Backbeat

Meets

New York City NY

Description

We're looking at drummers age 17-28 only, with lots of practice and playing time under your belt and natural musical ability. We are 30+ but the older drummers we have talked have been problematic about what they want to play vs. multiple rock based directions, frequency of rehearsals, travel time and commitment. Along with all those issues my overall impression is they want to be playing covers for fun on an occasional basis and have not arrived at the realization that their mindset for doing original songs never existed or has bit the dust. In regard to E-Kit and acoustic kit issues, I'm having a hard time rationalizing the practical gigging utility of a full size acoustic kit that can pump out 300 db, while a super loud combo amp, like a Vox AC30 (for argument's sake) fully cranked up, outputs 118 db. Actually neither the Vox or the full size kit is actually necessary given the size of the small venues or the availability of quality sound and monitoring systems at large and medium sized high end venues. Plus I like the idea of a cleaner mix with less mic bleed going on, a smaller band footprint. I don't think instrument volume overkill is really necessary. Send something to listen to in your response. If we like what we hear and it seems like you're a good fit, musically and on a personal level and your professional goals are in sync with ours we'll talk further. We want a top notch drummer, to put it bluntly. We're not settling for just ok. Guitarist/writer/leader is covering startup costs, rehearsal space, recording costs and will seriously consider, later on, buying a dedicated high end E-kit for gigs/rehearsals in a dedicated space if everything works out. The music will be guitar driven melodic and noisy, rocky and 70's power pop driven, a bit progressive and edgy, occasional uptempo ballad, jazzy and swingin is better than a slow ballad that will never fly played live, blues rock but not typical I IV V progressions.
