Learn how to make Georgia-style shrimp and grits! Work in small groups to create the dishes & build connections with new people. Flex your social skills while also enjoying an interactive (& delicious) group activity! Joseph Poelstra, a trained chef and lover of Southern food, will be teaching the class how to make his aunt's Georgia-style shrimp and grits recipe, along with a light salad to accompany the dish. During the class, you'll also get to: - connect with people over more than just work topics - beat isolation by getting out with new people who have common interests - ease into social situations when interacting with new people now seems difficult - learn how to avoid awkward situations with conversation starters What to expect: You'll work in teams of four to recreate recipes. There will be plenty of time to network and connect with other guests. At the end of the event, everyone will sit down and eat together. Want to come by yourself? Please do! The intention of this class is for everyone to interact with new people so you'll be paired up with a group that shares common interests. All teams are pre-assigned intentionally based upon your form answers. Don't worry about running out of things to say; there will be conversation starters available to get the discussion flowing! Not a confident cook? Don’t worry! This class is designed for any level of cooking experience. Who will be there? Professionals that are local to the area and are in their late 30’s to mid-60’s. Some have recently moved to the area, others are going through a friend or job transition, a few are trying to brush up on their social skills, and all of them love food. No matter what your reason is, get ready to have fun, meet people, and learn something new! Class size limited to 12 people. RSVP is required. No walk-ins.
