Press release from the Delaware Technical Community College: September 22, 2021 The Central Delaware Economic Summit (formerly known as the Kent County Economic Summit), presented in partnership between the Delaware Tech Terry Campus and the Central Delaware Business and Entrepreneurship Consortium, was held in a virtual format September 14, 2021 and drew more than 150 participants. It was the 13th year that leaders in business, government, and education gathered at the summit to focus on improving the economic conditions and quality of life in central Delaware. Governor John Carney shared Delaware's vision for economic development across the state and Linda Parkowski, executive director of the Kent Economic Partnership, delivered a keynote address that highlighted new economic development opportunities in and around central Delaware. In addition to the featured speakers, there were three panel discussions that concentrated on changes in the workplace and workspace due to the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as key strategies and steps put in place to chart the course for economic stability and growth. The first panel of John Fleming, acting regional administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration Mid-Atlantic Region, and Jordan Schulties, director of the Delaware Division of Small Business, discussed business resources and opportunities. Martha White, senior project manager for EDiS Company; Tammy Ordway, Faw Casson Accounting; and Ted Werner, Post Acute Medical (PAM) Rehabilitation Hospital of Dover, comprised the second panel that discussed changes in the workplace and workspace. The final panelists, Rous Robles and Angie Robles, My Sister's Fault; Mike Rasmussen, Painted Stave; and George Dobbins, CrossFit Dover, shared the perspective of small businesses in the area.
