Why so difficult to find a roommate to get a roof over your head?

Doesn't it seem strange to you that it's difficult to find a compatible roommate to share a one-bedroom apartment or such.? Didn't we do this in college? Isn't this a very good way to get a roof over your head? Yes. It is. I'm a social security recipient for the regular income looking for another person similar with a regular income. Not looking for recovery although that's nice. Not looking for therapy although that's nice. I'd rather make my own way than get into a government program to take care of me. I have many skills.
