MERCER COUNTY, NJ — Mercer County and New Jersey has seen an uptick in coronavirus cases. But what does that mean for the county? As of Friday, the county saw a drop of almost 47 percent in reported COVID-19 cases. Last week the County reported 81 confirmed cases, with two COVID-19 related deaths, but this week, the confirmed cases dropped to 43, with no reported COVID-19 deaths. The cumulative total of coronavirus cases now stands at 34,772 and 940 confirmed deaths since the pandemic began last year. Officials continue to monitor the delta variant, which accounted for more than 96 percent of coronavirus cases in New Jersey over the last four weeks, according to data provided by the state department of health. Mercer County has "moderate" COVID activity, according to New Jersey's latest COVID-19 activity report (week of Sept. 18). The determination is based on metrics such as case rate, positivity rate, and prevalence of COVID-like illnesses. Meanwhile, the County is stepping up efforts to vaccinate residents by hosting various clinics.
