3 Arrested In Separate Hit And Run Crashes

LIBERTYVILLE, IL — The Libertyville Police Department made three separate arrests in connection with hit and run crashes that occurred over a weeklong period in the past month. Hit And Run at Milwaukee Avenue, Valley Park Drive The first incident occurred in the area of Milwaukee Avenue and Valley Park Drive at about 11:10 p.m. on Aug. 27. The driver of the vehicle that was hit gave officers a description of the vehicle and authorities were able to track it down a short time later, according t0 a Libertyville Police Department report. They spoke with the driver, who was identified as Veronica Rangel, 46, of the 500 block of Kenwood Avenue in Round Lake Park. She was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center for injuries that are not considered life-threatening. She has been cited for leaving the scene of a property damage crash, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, operating an uninsured vehicle, and no valid driver's license. Hit And Run at Route 45 and Peterson Road The second incident occurred at about 11 p.m. on Aug. 29 in the area of Route 45 and Peterson Road for a report of a hit and run crash. Officers spoke with the driver of the vehicle still at the scene and were able to track down a vehicle matching the description in a business parking lot at 1950 Innovation Lane in Libertyville. Officers spoke with the driver, who was identified as Cristian Sanchez-Secundino, 20, of the 600 block of Helmholz Avenue in Libertyville, and cited him for leaving the scene of the property damage crash, no valid driver's license and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. $50K Cash Bail In DUI, Hit And Run Crash A 54-year-old man from Dickson, Texas, faces charges for accusations he drove drunk and caused a crash before fleeing the scene at about 2 p.m. on Sept. 3 in the area of Milwaukee Avenue and Rockland Road. The vehicle was driving in the wrong lanes and struck a curb before colliding with another vehicle. Officer responding to the crash were able to track down the offending vehicle heading west on Route 176. They stopped the vehicle near Brainered and Jackson avenues and spoke with the driver, Frank Bojiniewicz. He was taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center for injuries that are not considered life-threatening and has been cited for driving while under the influence, leaving the scene of a property damage crash, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured motor vehicle. His bail was set at $50,000.
