CHICAGO, IL — A police officer and a 15-year-old boy were injured Friday night when gunfire erupted in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood. A third person, a 25-year-old man, was killed in the shooting, according to a report. Police were called to the 7200 block of South Jeffery Boulevard around 11 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found the teenager and the man laying on the ground with gunshot wounds, WGN 9 reported. While trying to investigate, shots were fired at the officers. A female officer was struck by multiple bullets, according to WGN. She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. The teenager was taken to Comer Children's Hospital for treatment. The man was taken to Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
