Description

Join us for an educational session about controlling stormwater at your home. Climate change in Vermont is here, and the trend for rain is more intense storms. The number of days of heavy rain has doubled since 1970, and summer rain has increased an inch a decade for the past three decades. Are you concerned about the impacts of heavy rains on your property and the surrounding environment, especially Lake Champlain? Controlling stormwater runoff can make a big difference in reducing flooding and erosion, and protecting water quality. Controlling stormwater runoff can hep prevent toxic blue-teen algae blooms. The Town of Colchester, Lake Champlain Sea Grant, and the BLUE program offer free stormwater evaluations for homes. Evaluations will identify problem areas and suggest improvements homeowners or renters can make. We invite you to join us for an educational session on water quality at the Burnham Memorial Library Meeting House from 6 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday, October 5. We’ll be discussing water quality as well as offering the opportunity to sign up for free stormwater evaluations. This program is provided by a partnership of Lake Champlain Sea Grant Blue Program and the Town of Colchester. For more information about water quality in Colchester, see here https://colchestervt.gov/3061/Water-Quality-Concerns For more information about the BLUE program, see here https://www.uvm.edu/seagrant/blue. Due to the increasing number of COVID-19 cases in Chittenden County, all patrons attending this program are required to wear a mask, even if fully vaccinated. We appreciate your cooperation.
