If so, Red Jeep Tours invites you to apply as a Naturalist Jeep and/or Hiking Tour Guide. * All positions are part-time/on-call AFTER 6-7 weeks of initial training that averages 30-40 hours per week of classroom, field and study time. * This is a great job for early retirees / active seniors who are looking for a fun part-time gig to earn a little pocket money and stay mentally and physically active. * Much of the year, work schedules are flexible. We only ask that you are available to work at least 3 days per week October - May except during the following peak times when we ask all guides to keep their availability open: - Thanksgiving Weekend (especially Friday and Saturday) - Christmas / New Years (December 20 - January 1) - Spring Break (Mid-February - Mid April) * Working in the summer (June - September) is optional. While we do operate year-round, many of our guides take a leave-of-absence in the summer so they can escape the summer heat and travel. * Starting pay is minimum wage, with annual adjustments up to $20/hour. Once you are certified to conduct tours you will also earn tips on most of your tours. Our best guides average $50-$100 or more per tour in tips. * We will teach you everything you need to know through our extensive, paid training program. * You must be able to drive a manual (stick) transmission to train as a Jeep Tour Guide. * Prior to employment, you will be subject to a pre-employment drug test and as a guide, you are required to participate in periodic, random drug and/or alcohol testing. Those using marijuana should not apply. * Due to the close customer facing nature of this job, all employees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. At this time, for the safety of our staff and guests, guides are also required to wear a mask at all times while on tour. * You will be required to become CPR and First Aid Certified (provided as part of our training program). Bi-annual recertification is mandatory. * You must have a clean driving record to apply as a Jeep Tour Guide. * You must provide proof of legal authority to work in the United States. * Active/outdoor types and hiking enthusiasts are encouraged to apply We still have a few openings for our training class that starts Monday November 1, 2021 and runs through Friday December 3 (the certification deadline is Friday, December 24). Training runs for approximately 6-8 weeks with classroom and/or field training sessions held on Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays from 8am until about 3pm, plus homework and on-your-own field study required to successfully certify to conduct tours. NOTE: For the first 5 weeks of training, the time commitment is approximately 30-40 hours per week. After you've completed the organized portion of the training, you will have up to 3 weeks to put your own touches on your tour and certify.
