They are bred to have the highest nutritional value for your animal. Superworms are NOT the same insect as mealworms. They are BIGGER (longer & fatter) and much more LIVELY than mealworms. Birds and reptiles love 'em! SuperWorms are VERY active making them excellent live feeders for animals that love to hunt and chase their prey, and they contain less chitin making super worms easier for your animals to digest than mealworms and crickets which have the harder chitin. Superworms are readily accepted by lizards, turtles, frogs, salamanders, birds, Koi and all other insect-loving animals. The substrate the Super worms are reared and kept in has a huge impact on the nutritional value they will provide to your pets. Large superworms are approximately 2 inches long and FATTER than large mealworms. Superworms do not contain growth hormones to prevent pupation like the giant mealworms do. In order to prevent pupation for superworms, you must keep them with other larvae. As long as they are in constant bodily contact with other larvae, they will remain in this stage.
