Description
NEW ROCHELLE, NY — The New Rochelle Public Library will once again be hosting free, live concerts starting on Sunday.
Jazz musician Chip Shelton and his Flute Party Band will take the stage on September 26, at 3:00 p.m. This will be the first live musical performance at the library since the very start of the pandemic.
The performance will be hosted by jazz radio on-air personality Keanna Faircloth.
Don't let the woodwind-driven ensemble fool you because this won't be a staid chamber music affair. The high-energy concert really will be a flute party. The group bills itself as an intersection of multi-generational, pan-ethnic influences "where art and fun are one." Concertgoers are encouraged to get up and dance or, if they prefer, just bring a chair and relax.
"Afternoon Jazz" radio host Keanna Faircloth will emcee the festivities. (Keanna Faircloth)
The show will take place at Ruby Dee Park on the Library Green. In the event of rain, the performance will be moved to the Ossie Davis Theater inside the library. Masks are recommended outside and will be required inside the library.
This free performance was made possible by the Friends of the New Rochelle Public Library.
Don't miss the chance to see a sub-contra-bass flutist in person. (Chip Shelton)
