Updated at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 24. WOODBRIDGE, VA — A 15-year-old boy was grazed by a bullet in Woodbridge on Thursday afternoon, according to the Prince William County Police Department. Officers are now looking for a suspect. Residents in the area saw a heavy police presence on Thursday as a police K-9 and helicopter searched for a suspect. A suspect was not located. In a report published on Friday afternoon, authorities said the shooting occurred around 4 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 23 in the area of Flotilla Way and Dyers Mill Court. "The driver of a vehicle, identified as 26-year-old man, and several other passengers were driving through the above area when their vehicle was shot at by an unknown man," the police department wrote. "The driver returned fire before fleeing the area and encountering police on an unrelated call in the area of Fox Lair Drive." A 15-year-old boy who was a passenger in the vehicle was grazed by a bullet during the shooting, police said. A 25-year-old woman also reported minor injuries suffered when she was struck by debris during the shooting. When officers canvassed the area, they found several shell casings and other vehicles that were shot. During their investigation, officers received a video from a nearby homeowner's surveillance camera that showed part of the shooting. On Friday, investigators were working to determine what events could have led to the shooting. The shooter is described as a Black man with a heavy build, police said. He has short dreadlocks. At the time of the shooting, he was wearing a black shirt and denim jeans.
