Here are the top stories in Burlington today: Acting Burlington Police Chief Jon Murad wants to use up to $1.27 million of the city's federal coronavirus recovery funds for bonuses to retain and recruit police officers. The recruitment bonus would pay 10 new recruits $15,000 over two years, using a total of $150,000 in ARPA funds. Mayor Miro Weinberger plans to convene an "ARPA Task Force" to help determine how to spend the remaining funds. (Seven Days)Police are investigating reports of gunshots near the Andy A_Dogs Williams Skate Park at the Burlington waterfront. The shooting occurred just after midnight on Friday and is the 13th shooting in the city so far this year. Burlington officers found the car suspected of being involved and arrested two juvenile suspects, both of whom have criminal records. (WCAX) Residents of a Burlington long-term care facility got a chance Thursday to head to the carnival in their own backyard. The staff at Queen City Nursing & Rehabilitation threw residents a carnival, complete with food, music, dancing, and plenty of costumes.
