Press release from the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office: September 24, 2021 Jefferson County, CO. – On November 1, 2020, Jefferson County Sheriff's deputies responded to the 5400 block of West Ottawa Avenue after a male caller stated he shot his wife when she came at him with a weapon. The caller's wife, Kanokwan (Nok) Smith (DOB 07/25/1973) was found inside their residence and pronounced deceased. Scott Lee Smith (DOB 06/15/75), was identified as the shooter and booked into the Jefferson County Detention Facility on the charge of murder in the first degree. Smith was released several days after being booked in after prosecutors stated the evidence at the time was not sufficient to support criminal charges.    Golden, CO 80419  Phone: 303-271-0211  This press release was produced by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
