MORRISTOWN, NJ — It's not clear what path the coronavirus may take this fall. But here's what we've seen in Greater Morristown recently. Morris County averaged 71.8 cases new cases per day in the past week after averaging 69.2 infections per day the prior week, according to the New Jersey Department of Health. Here's how much cases have spread in the area: Morristown saw 26 new cases from Sept. 14 to Thursday, according to Morris County data, bringing the town to 2,354 cases since the pandemic began. That's a 1.12 percent increase in total cases in nine days.Morris Township had 23 new cases in that span, totaling 1,728 cases since the onset of the pandemic — a 1.35 percent increase in total infections.Morris Plains's cases went from 603 to 611 for a 1.33 percent increase.Here are the local hospital ICU statistics as of Friday, according to the Department of Health and Human Services: Morristown Medical Center: 24.68 percent of ICU beds availableSaint Clare's Denville Hospital: 74.36 percent of ICU beds availableKindred Hospital New Jersey - Morris County (Dover): ICU bed data unavailableOverlook Medical Center (Summit): 50.72 percent of ICU beds availableSaint Barnabas Medical Center (Livingston): 52.63 percent of ICU beds availableHere's more local coronavirus news: Atlantic Health System, which includes the Morristown and Overlook medical centers, tightened visitor rules at its hospitals. The health provider previously allowed non-COVID, in-patient adults to have two visitors. As of Sept. 16, they can only have one.
