DENVER, CO — Seven members of the Denver Police Department have sued the city of Denver over its mandate that all city employees get vaccinated against COVID-19, Fox 31 reported.
The lawsuit is arguing that Denver Public Health Director Robert MacDonald does not have the authority to implement a COVID-19 vaccine rule, and that Mayor Michael Hancock did not have the authority to give him the power to do so, the news station reported.
Hancock announced the vaccine mandate in early August, and all city employees are required to get the shot by Sept. 30.
The officers' lawsuit requests a formal review of the mandate and a "ban on enforcement" when the deadline comes next week, according to Fox 31.
