Here are the top stories today in Denver: Seven members of the Denver P.D. are suing the City of Denver over it's vaccine mandate. The Denver Police Department is lagging behind the city's full-time employee vaccination rate. As we approach the September 30 deadline, they are pushing back. The lawsuit was filed on September 23 and claims that Denver Public Health Director Robert MacDonald does not have the authority to instate such a mandate. It also says that Mayor Michael Hancock did not have the authority to give him that power, and requests a formal review of the vaccine mandate as well as a ban on enforcement. (Fox31)Pedestrians have been victims in more than 50 traffic deaths in 2021 so far. The Denver Streets Partnership is trying to bring light to the inadequacy of the sidewalk system through a series of tours dubbed "Sidewalk Palooza." According to the organization 47% of low-income neighborhoods have missing or substandard sidewalks that force pedestrians into the streets. Although many officials identify it as a problem, based on previous expenditures, the timeline would estimate more than 400 years to finish the Denver sidewalk network.
