SWAT Arrests Suspect In Road Rage Shooting & Crash

SANTA MONICA, CA — A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder in connection with a road rage crash and shooting earlier this month, according to the Santa Monica Police Department. A shooting and hit-and-run were reported about 1:21 p.m. Sept. 6 near Yorkshire Avenue and Pico Boulevard, police said. Both the suspect and suspect's vehicle were gone when officers arrived, police said. A victim and witnesses reported that the suspect rammed the victims' car from behind in a possible road rage incident, police said. The victims got out of the vehicle and while attempting to run and were targeted by the suspect, who fired several gunshots at them. One of the victims had a grazing wound to his knee and was taken to a hospital. SMPD detectives, SWAT, and a drone team executed an arrest warrant Tuesday for Eliott Ferrando, 24. Ferrando was taken into custody without incident in the Los Angeles area and booked on suspicion of attempted murder. He was held in Santa Monica on $1,000,000 bail. A subsequent search of his home uncovered a handgun believed to have been used in the shooting, police said.
