Description
Hi! I'm a singer and guitar player looking for some local musicians to help me form a country-rock influenced band. Beyond that general genre space, I don't have a really specific sound in mind, and I figure we can work that out together. Some reference points for what I had in mind would be Neil Young, Creedence Clearwater Revival, early Wilco and Neko Case, Uncle Tupelo, Sturgill Simpson, Jason Isbell and Drive-By Truckers, Whiskeytown, The Jayhawks, and probably some other acts I've forgotten to mention. Exactly where we land on that spectrum of influences will really depend on what sorts of musicians we end up with, so I'm pretty flexible.
My first priority is finding a drummer and bassist so we can at least form a basic trio, and then we can potentially expand from there. The drums in this sort of music aren't usually very complicated, so you don't need to be an expert drummer or anything as long as you can keep a beat. Bassists likewise don't need to be experts, but you do need to be able to follow along with everyone else, so you should probably at least know basic scales and whatnot. I would also love to hear from any steel guitar players (lap or pedal) as well as organ and piano players. Unfortunately not looking for other guitarists or singers at the moment, unless you happen to also play one of the other instruments I listed. Sorry!
As for me, I am a 26-year old male with over a decade of experience (although I've never been part of a professional band) and a pretty good foundation in music theory. Musicians of all ages and backgrounds are welcome to reach out, and I'm happy to play with anyone as long as we vibe. Looking forward to hearing from you!
