Lemont To Hold Sunday Parade For Student And Her New Service Dog

LEMONT, IL —Make-A-Wish of Illinois has announced there will be a parade on Sunday celebrating Lemont High School sophomore Maddie Wesolowski and her new service dog Cooper. Wesolowski recently learned her wish for a service dog would be granted, according to Make-A-Wish of Illinois. The community is invited to cheer on Wesolowski during the parade, or bring their dog and join the parade. According to organizers, staging for the parade will begin at 1 p.m. at Lemont High School, 800 Porter St. At 1:30 p.m., the parade will begin near the high school tennis courts, it will head down McCarthy Road, turn onto Houston Street and then continue on Freehauf Street, with a final destination being Wesolowski's home on Hillview Drive. The Lemont High School marching band, cheerleading squad and Sparkles Dance Team are expected to take part, as are the Lemont Police Department, Lemont Fire Department, Lemont Tractor Club and Lemont Lions Club, according to organizers. According to a flier, attendees are encouraged make a sign and dress up for the parade. There also will be dog toy collection baskets, and attendees are asked to bring new toys for Cooper.
