ROYAL OAK, MI — JD Advising announced Thursday its Law School Scholars Program, which seeks to provide more opportunities to historically underrepresented first-year law students. The program will connect these students to top law firms. It will also pay for tutoring, serve as mentors and provide them with valuable career advice. "Due to the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic and the racial injustice protests throughout the country, we thought it was very important to make more materials available to diverse students," JD Advising founder and CEO Ashley Heidemann, Esq. said "Our top priority has always been providing high-quality materials and services to students, and thanks to the generous sponsorship of so many law firms it is now possible for more students to have access to high-quality resources," she added. To be eligible for the JD Advising Law School Scholars Program, first-year law students mustmeet the following requirements: Must be enrolled in an ABA-accredited law school for Fall 2021. Must have a minimum of either a 3.0 undergraduate GPA or a 160 LSAT score.Must identify as a member of an underrepresented racial, ethnic, or gender group, amember of the LGBTQ community, or disabled.Applications for 2021 are now closed. However, students who are from a top 25 school, or from Michigan or attending a Michigan law school, can still apply if they meet the qualifications. Live in Royal Oak?
