Our premium local sponsorships will keep you at the top of inboxes around town every morning. Contact us here for the lowdown. First, today's weather: Cooler with a little rain, possible light rain overnight. High: 92, low: 75. Gardeners are stirring! Here's today's news: 1. A Silver Alert was released on Thursday by the Arizona Department of Public Safety. Subsequently, the Scottsdale Police department posted a Facebook request for the public to assist in searching for a man with autism reported missing since Wednesday. According to ABC15, "20-year-old Najib Monsif was last seen Wednesday night at his home near Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard and Via Linda." Described as thin, 5 feet, 10 inches to 6 feet tall, Najib is likely dressed in black and wearing moccasins. If you see this man, please alert Scottsdale Police at 480-312-5000. (ABC15 Arizona) 2. Over 2,400 municipal employees of Scottsdale are slated to receive training from the Department of Homeland Security and the Arizona Anti-Trafficking Network to detect human trafficking. The announcement from the Arizona Attorney General's Office was made Thursday. According to the Arizona Daily Star, Scottsdale Mayor David D. Ortega said that the resulting training "will enable city employees to spot these situations and could help save someone who is being exploited," he said. "We are committed to being part of the solution." (Arizona Daily Star) 3. In case you missed it: According to a Patch piece on Thursday, 40 million water users in the Western U.S. are increasingly vulnerable to the continuing drought and subsequent reduction in water levels in water-providing lakes such as Mead and Powell. The Bureau of Reclamation claims, "the lakes had a combined capacity of 39 percent on Wednesday, down from 49 percent at this time last year." With a lack of consistent winter runoff, all parties are looking for alternative approaches, including discussing what will replace the current guidance documents currently adopted by seven states."
