JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Shop General Support Reports To: Shop Supervisor The General Support position is responsible for supporting the shop staff in the creation of assigned projects, as well as the overall daily operations of fast-paced administrative and fabrication arms of the business. This position is integral to fabrication, design and physical plant activities. A key job function is ensuring all supplies are made available to shop staff, that inventory is maintained at adequate levels, and workstations are maintained and ready to use. Duties include: · Loads and unloads materials adhering to safety practices and seeking assistance for items weighing more than 60 lbs. Drives forklift to load or unload heavy materials onto trucks. · Maintain workplace hygiene in compliance health and safety program and keeps logs current to document the work. · Performs visual inspections and preventive maintenance as necessary for building maintenance; May serve as prime contact for related repair or other on-site service providers. · Assists fabricators prepare and load materials for project creation. · Demonstrate understanding and adherence to job safety requirements. · Keep inventory stocked in support areas, empties waste containers, does equipment wipe-downs and leaves shop areas broom clean. · Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS Must be able to work in a team environment and take directions. Excellent communication skills: written, verbal and speaking. Must have a strong sense of urgency. Ability to lift up to 60 lbs. on a regular basis. Must be able to work outdoors enduring hot or cold weather. Valid forklift certification preferred. Must be able to work outdoors enduring hot or cold weather; able to work indoors without central AC or heating. Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid CA class C driver’s license. This position may be subject to mandatory overtime. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE High School Diploma or GED.
