Description

I’m searching for a new project horse. I have a fantastic filly that needs some time off. I’m interested in taking on a new horse, that has either not been started under saddle, or maybe a difficult/fearful horse in need of help. (I’m partial to working with OTTBs) I’m not looking to purchase another horse, but I am willing to work with the right horse, and provide free (or minimal $) training. I’m eager to stay busy, but not really interested in making a profit, just a mutually beneficial friendship. My techniques are geared for an English rider, mostly dressage fundamentals and I’d like to take a horse all the way through learning to safely and competently jump (at the right time). I have roughly 25 years experience, riding and training horses of all types. I’m a firm believer in positive reinforcement and working with a horses natural psyche to build experience and confidence. I can start from the ground up, but said horse needs to be able to be haltered and handled, should an emergency arise. I have access to a beautiful and affordable facility, with availability, it has everything needed for an adventure such as this. I do ask that said horse be stabled in the same barn as my current horse. Very close to my home, I’m usually there twice a day wether I’m able to ride, or not. I closely manage nutrition and health myself, which will change over time, as the horse moves through training. I do not believe in deadlines, and I take my time to complete one step at a time, throughly. It’s important for the owner to be patient, every horse is an individual, and they all learn at different speeds. I also very much want the owner to be a part of the process, so horse and rider can work together when I move on with my own horse. I will only consider sound, healthy horses that don’t have any physical limitations beyond normal fitness and age. I prefer to work with horses 15hh, or taller. Owner will be responsible for the expenses, which is just normal day to day care (board, feed, farrier, veterinary, etc), possibly a piece of specialty tack that will stay with the horse, but I’m not interested in collecting any fees for training. I’ve just gone through some major life changes, and I desperately want to stay busy, doing what I love the most. I am also interested in taking on 1 or 2 (human) students, that have similar goals and interests, and fit in with my current ‘herd’ lol Students considered will have a horse of their own (I don’t have any lesson horses currently), and a basic ability to ride independently. I really enjoy working with green riders who have a green horse, and need a little guidance. If interested, please email with a description of your situation, goals, and of course your horse. I’ll be screening possibilities, so I can help a horse and rider, who would benefit the most, who need a ‘leg up’ !! I can provide references, and Im very transparent, so there will be a ‘get-to-know-ya’ phase. Im hoping to make new connections, I’ve been very fortunate due to kindness of others and I want to ‘pay it forward’ and infuse some positivity into an industry that has become difficult for good people, without the means to line the pockets of others, to advance, find friends, be safe, and do well. It IS possible!!
