Women in Sustainability Quarterly Meeting (In Person - Denver, CO) WIS Quarterly Meetings are back in person!! Join us for our quarterly event on October 27 at 6:00pm to network and learn about a specific topic on sustainability. In October, BookBar is graciously hosting Women in Sustainability's meeting. We will feature an author at this event as a speaker, TBD. Attendees can come to network, learn and browse the aisles for books while supporting a local, independent book store. BookBar has a wine & beer bar available along with non-alcoholic options. This event is free and open to any person interested in sustainability and the environment and all are welcome to attend no matter where you are on your journey! Women in Sustainability Quarterly Meetings are held on the 4th Wednesday of each quarter. COVID Guidelines: To safeguard our attendees and family members from the COVID-19 virus, this event will be held outdoors, weather permitting. WIS follows all CDC, State, City and venue protocols that are in place at the time of the event. We ask that all attendees follow the required guidelines for both vaccinated and unvaccinated individuals including wearing a mask if you are not vaccinated. We also encourage those to wear masks that feel more comfortable doing so. Regardless of your vaccination status, if you are not feeling well or have come in contact with someone with the COVID-19 virus, please do not attend this event. We appreciate your help in keeping our community and their family members safe during these unprecedented times. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved inside with plenty of space to social distance. In addition, WIS implements a COVID conscious name tag system for all attendees based on their level of comfort of contact (green = hugs & handshakes, yellow = handshakes & high fives, red = toe taps and air high fives). About the Venue: BookBar, owned by Nicole Sullivan, is known for doing a wide variety of things and doing them well. As an independent bookstore with a small but well curated selection, a wine bar and coffee shop with tasty options, and as the organizer behind BookGive, a nonprofit that distributes free books to underserved locations, this unique local business has a huge presence in the Northwest Denver community and throughout the city. BookBar’s newest venture, independent publishing company BookBar Press, continues their community-driven and locally focused mission in what is perhaps their most creative way yet – by releasing titles written by Denver-based writers as an alternative to traditional publishers. Women in Sustainability: Women in Sustainability (WIS) is a women-led nonprofit dedicated to facilitating community action to fight the climate crisis and social injustices. WIS intentionally creates a safe space for like-minded and diverse individuals to create purposeful and transformational connections in the environmental movement. WIS believes that inclusive collaboration, education and advocacy are the keys to creating meaningful change that benefits ALL for a better future. We encourage our members to challenge the status quo and each other's views, however, we focus on this with civil discourse and positivity. WIS has a no tolerance policy and any individual that makes negative or ill-will comments towards other attendees will be immediately asked to leave the event.
