In Her Shoes: An experiential training (2 FREE CEU’s* ) TWO SESSIONS!!!! 9:00am—11:00am or 1:00PM—3:00PM In honor of Domestic Violence Awareness month, the Dallas County Domestic Violence Awareness Coalition (DVAC) is offering a FREE training: In Her Shoes. Free Social Work and LPC CEU's provided, courtesy of Dallas CASA. In Her Shoes is an interactive and experiential exercise where participants move, do, think and experience the lives of domestic violence victims. It is a simulation exercise in which participants adopt a character and her story. The exercise allows participants to navigate the often difficult circumstances that victims face. Domestic Violence Statistics in Texas: 1 in 3 Texans will experience domestic violence in their lifetimes. 150 women were killed by a male intimate partner in 2019. 35% of those women were in the process, or had made attempts to leave the relationship (Texas Council on Family Violence, 2019). On average, a victim will leave and return to the abuser 7 times before leaving that relationship permanently (The National Domestic Violence Hotline, 2013).
