Crime and Substance Use: The Tie That Binds Us Crime and Substance Use/Abuse: The Tie That Binds? Mark Crabtree, LCAS, CCS Crime and substance use/abuse have been closely correlated for decades. This training will examine this relationship and delve into a historical review of social and legislative efforts to mitigate crime, related to substance use/abuse. This will include digging into crime statistics and reviewing the benefits or consequences of our national strategy. Lastly, we’ll discuss recent efforts surrounding criminal justice reform efforts, related to substance use/abuse. There will be adequate time for discussion throughout and at training conclusion.
