Mozart's Requiem will be performed in Savannah's historic Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist. Mozart composed the opening movements of the Requiem in the final months of his life, commissioned by a benefactor who wished to pass off the work as his own. The work was largely unfinished at the time of his death and finished by one of his students. This iconic piece will be performed by an orchestra of 27 (including members of the Savannah Philharmonic), a chorus of 40 voices, and soloists. Friends of Cathedral Music presents Glorious Music in a Glorious Place: the Cathedral Basilica of St. John the Baptist in Savannah. This year's concert series includes works by Mozart and Handel performed by orchestra, chorus, and soloists. We will host the Three Choirs Festival in January, featuring over 120 voices performing in the Cathedral Basilica. The choirs of Wesley Monumental United Methodist and Christ Church Anglican churches join forces with the Cathedral Choir . The Vienna Boys Choir and Voces8 will visit the Cathedral Basilica in early February in our international choir festival. Vienna Boys Choir will appear on February 6th at 5PM and Voces8 will appear on February 13th at 5PM. We hope you will join us often for "Glorious Music in a Glorious Place"!
