Teens Lets Chalk
Teens Lets Chalk is an activity that will allow teens a safe space to engage with peers, connect and share feelings through art, games, and facilitated dialogue. At Filling in the GAPS we recognize the challenges that teens are facing as they navigate through life and understand how unprocessed thoughts, feelings and emotions have the potential to lead to detrimental effects such as anxiety and depression. In our attempt to reverse the growing rates of mental illness in our community, it is our hope to promote messages of hope and empowerment that will promote positive mental WELLNESS instead.
Teens Lets Chalk is sponsored by I AM FAB, a youth initiative of Filling in the GAPS. The focus of I AM FAB is to create a safe space for teenagers (11-18) to feel seen, heard, respected, valued and supported regardless of race, disability, gender, age, economic status, religion ,sexual orientation or any factors that would be otherwise discriminatory.
The mission of Filling in the GAPS, LLC is to offer education, advocacy, and support for individuals and families affected by mental health and disabilities.
**We would like to thank the Richmond County Suicide Prevention Coalition for donating chalk and mental health resource materials for this event.
September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month.
