Navratri, meaning 'nine nights', is one of the most popular and widely celebrated Hindu festivals. Gujarat, however, is the only state that erupts into a nine-night dance festival, perhaps the longest in the world. Each night people gather in open spaces to celebrate feminine divinity, referred to as Shakti. This festival is observed in many ways, each unique to the region of India in which it is celebrated. In Gujarat, it is observed with nine nights of dancing as a form of veneration and worship. Starting in the evening, men and women dance late into the night in honor of Durga. Many people also fast or observe a special diet with restricted foods during these nine days and nights. The dance form known as Ras-Garba, comes from Lord Krishna's worship rather than Goddess worship. Nevertheless, We invite you all to gather, dance with rejoice and greet "Maa Shakti" & "Lord Sri Krishna" at the GSMN Navratri Celebrations.
