MADISON, WI — Oak Creek's water is the best in Wisconsin, according to a contest held by the American Water Works Association.
Four people judged tap water from around Wisconsin during the contest held on Monona Terrace in Madison Wednesday.
Oak Creek's water was the best, according to judges.
Municipalities such as the City of Oak Creek's Water and Sewer Utility submitted its water for the contest, which was held by the Wisconsin section of the water association during its annual conference. Being the best of the state, Oak Creek's water will now go on to compete in a national championship.
The water association announced the winner on Facebook Wednesday. Oak Creek's water system supports 60,000 people across 83 square miles in Oak Creek, Franklin and nearby.
"Different types of water depending on their source can have different characteristics, so we'll smell it a bit, you'll see our judges sip it, let it roll around in your mouth, kinda get a sense for that," Melissa Elliot from the AWWA told Channel3000.
