Soil Drilling Assistant " Minuteman" Drill Rig - Hours VARY daily for this position. Averaging 5+ hours a day, but sometimes only 4 hours, sometimes 10 hours. Must be flexible. Pays $24 hr. depending on your overall experience. No Drilling Experience is necessary. We will train although being mechanically inclined is important. Assist the Drilling Foreman to do drilling and sampling of soil for soil investigations. The first six weeks is probationary and holidays and benefits are not paid during this time. Required to hand carry heavy equipment and up/down steep hillsides occasionally. Must be strong and in good physical condition. Must maintain a good attitude after a long strenuous day at times. If there is a requirement that you be somewhere else at a certain time each day, this job is NOT for you. No guaranteed hours or number of days each week. A plus if you have ARC WELDING or SMALL ENGINE mechanical experience. This position requires you to take job related phone calls/texts at home in the evening (Voicemail cell phone OK) and sometimes early mornings as schedule sometimes change due to weather, etc... It is best if you have your own cell phone for us to contact you. You are required to have or purchase STEEL TOED boots with hillside climbing soles. We will supply all other safety equipment. Entry Level $24 hr. Required to carry heavy equipment up and down steep hillsides occasionally. Must be in good physical condition for this job. Only non-smokers please, due to working around gasoline engines and dry grass areas. (Safety first) CLEAN DMV no more than one moving violation (3 years) or DUI (7 years). You will be required to drive a van. Mechanically inclined. Basic tools knowledge and not afraid to get dirty and have a good attitude. This job may require you to work on several weekends each year and several overnight jobs each year. We are looking for someone with a good attitude about doing hard physical work and occasionally working long hours. This person will need an understanding family that texts or phone calls are required in the evenings and at times early mornings. (Voicemail is OK) Must have a history of being Punctual and Reliable. Knowing Spanish is helpful, but not required. Living on the peninsula close to San Mateo is a plus. You will need to have your own transportation to get to work.
