BELLEVUE, WA — A Bellevue man will serve at least 10 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to four felony charges this week, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. The Bellevue Police Department's Sexual Assault Unit began an investigation into Steven Godina Ochoa, 29, in November 2019 after a 13-year-old girl told counselors he repeatedly sexually assaulted her, prosecutors said.
Once investigators located him, they also found methamphetamine, heroin, cash and weapons, according to court filings. Police discovered two of the guns were reported stolen and learned Godina Ochoa was legally barred from having firearms due to earlier convictions. When law enforcement analyzed his electronic devices, officers found images showing sexual assault of the young girl, amounting to child pornography, federal prosecutors said.
Godina Ochoa could face several decades in federal prison between the four felonies. Under the terms of a plea agreement, both the prosecution and the defense will ask the judge for the mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for January.
The case was investigated by the Bellevue Police Department and the FBI.
