Here are the top stories today in Roanoke: A man is in the hospital after a shooting in Southeast Roanoke on Thursday afternoon, according to the Roanoke Police Department. At about 1:15 p.m., officers received a report that someone had been shot in the 1200 block of Pechin Avenue SE. Authorities arrived at the scene to find a man with a non-life-threatening injury. He was later transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment. (WSLS 10)The City of Roanoke and Valley Metro announced that MB Contractors was given the notice on Sept. 21, 2021 to start construction on the new Transit Facility, which will be located at the 300 block of Salem Avenue. MB Contractors has begun initial preparatory activities for construction. This project is estimated to take 24 months to complete.
