MANCHESTER, CT — Manchester Community College officials Wednesday said the college is opening its Culinary Arts Center kitchens to members of the community to help students learn and improve their culinary and hospitality skills.
The public is invited to join student chefs at "Open Kitchen" luncheons, which begin at noon. The cost is $15 per person.
Pandemic protocols apply to all on-campus activities.
The next luncheon is scheduled for Sept. 30.
The menu is inspired by China:
Soup: Mushroom Egg Drop Soup served with Steamed BunsAppetizer: Pan Fried Dumplings served with Celery SaladEntree: Char Sui (Roasted Pork Loin) served with Fried Rice, Red Peppers and Snap Peas Dessert: Rice Pudding served with Lychee and Dragon FruitOn Oct. 7, the students will prepare a lunch inspired by France:
Soup: Cream of Carrot Soup served with Gougeres and BaguettesAppetizer: Baby Stuffed Mushroom served with Mesclun GreensEntree: Roasted Rack of Lamb served with Potatoes Gratin, Baby Zucchini and SquashDessert: Floating Island MeringuesReservations are required and fees must be paid when the reservation is made. There is a limit of eight reservations per person per meal.
