McKEESPORT, PA — A $20,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the arrest of a suspect in last week's shooting death of former NFL and Penn State football player Brandon Short's daughter. The reward was announced Thursday at a vigil in Renziehausen Park held by the friends and family of Karli Short, 26, who was found dead in the backyard of her residence on 25th Street on Sept. 13. She died from a gunshot wound to the head. Short was five months pregnant with a baby boy at the time of her death. Police have not identified any suspects in the slaying. Brandon Short was a standout football player at McKeesport Area High School who played linebacker at Penn State. He was a fourth-round draft pick of the New York Giants in 2000 and played seven seasons in the NFL with the Giants and the Carolina Panthers. Short, 44, now the executive director and portfolio manager at PGIM Real Estate and a Penn State trustee, did not attend the vigil but posted information on the reward on social media.
