Press release from the City of Beaverton: September 22, 2021 BEAVERTON, Ore. – The City of Beaverton is seeking community members to serve on a variety of boards and commissions. Applications are due Monday, Oct. 4. Beaverton's boards and commissions play a critical role in supporting city functions and advising the City Council and Mayor on a variety of issues and topics. All are essential to incorporating the community's voice in city decision-making. It's not all feedback-focused though—their creativity has also produced beloved Beaverton programs such as the "Library of Things," the annual Bike Beaverton event, and the annual Beaverton Night Market events. "We're going to bring new voices that haven't traditionally been at the table," said Mayor Beaty. "We are actively recruiting community members who can provide diverse perspectives, social networks, and expertise around the City's work." With a variety of boards and commissions catering to a wide range of interests including human rights, the arts, social services, diversity, urban renewal, libraries, city budgeting, community involvement, traffic, land use, bicycles and more, in addition to the new limited-duration Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Technical Advisory Committee, there are many opportunities available.
